Group Proposes Bill on Trangender Bathroom Access

A group is trying to restrict transgender people’s access to bathrooms in government-owned buildings in California.

Brad Dacus is president of the Pacific Justice Institute, which wrote the proposal, “This proposal is to provide protection for the privacy of young people when they are in their locker rooms and showers, but also for people in public restrooms.”

The institute is a conservative legal group that’s been advising an organization called Privacy for All, which filed the proposal with Attorney General Kamala Harris’ office recently. Leslie Michelle, a transgender who was born male but who has recently had gender reassignment surgery, told the KFBK Morning News the proposal is ill-conceived.
